New Chief for the Rockingham County District Probation/Parole Office

(Exeter, N.H.) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Division of Field Services Director Michael McAlister announced that a veteran Corrections employee Keith A. Phelps was named Chief of the District Probation/Parole Office in Exeter.

Chief Phelps is currently a Probation/Parole Officer in the Manchester District Office in Hillsborough County. He has worked for the Department since August 1993 when he was hired as a Corrections Officer for the New Hampshire State Prison in Concord. In 1996 he was promoted to Corrections Counselor/Case Manager and he became a Probation/Parole Officer in 1998.

Director McAlister said, “Keith has a varied background in Corrections which will be an asset in his new role as Chief. We are fortunate to have him in this position.”

Chief Phelps will manage a staff of thirteen employees. The Rockingham County District Office supervises over one thousand offenders on probation and parole. He succeeds Christine McKenna who retired earlier this year.
