GraniteCOR Northern Facilities Refurbishes UNH Dormroom Furniture
(Berlin, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that the University of New Hampshire of Durham has contracted with New Hampshire Correctional Industries at the Northern NH Correctional Facility in Berlin to reupholster furniture used by students in the UNH dormitories. Inmates assigned to the GraniteCOR-Northern Facilities program will be responsible for reuphostering, restoring, and repairing hundreds of chairs, couches, and tables over the next three years. The inmates will also provide the same service to furniture located in the UNH libraries.
GraniteCOR provides a wide array of upholstery services at the Berlin facility as well as the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord and New Hampshire State Prison for Women in Goffstown. Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn said, "We are pleased to be selected for this project. It trains the inmates in a marketable skill while providing a service to the students, faculty, and staff of UNH."
