Inmate Indicted for Contraband Possession Following DOC Investigation
(Concord, N.H.) The Merrimack County Superior Court Grand Jury recently indicted an inmate assigned to the Department of Corrections Secure Psychiatric Unit for four counts of Delivery of Articles to Prisoners (RSA 622:24). This is a Class B Felony punishable by up to 3 ½ - 7 years in prison for each count.
On May 24, 2011, Michael A. Seibel, 33, of North Conway, New Hampshire, was found to be in possession of a cell phone, tobacco, a smoking pipe, and a lighter. The Department of Corrections Investigations Bureau conducted the investigation and the criminal charges were the result of that. Further details about how the inmate came into possession of the contraband are still under investigation.
On April 25, 2003, Inmate Seibel was admitted to the New Hampshire State Prison after receiving a five to fifteen year sentence in Carroll County Superior Court for Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault. He was paroled on June 8, 2009. He returned to the New Hampshire State Prison on a technical parole violation on February 11, 2010. On January 23, 2011, he was assigned to the Secure Psychiatric Unit due to a pending petition for civil commitment under the Sexual Violent Predators Act. His maximum release date is June 6, 2017. |
