Commissioner Wrenn Sworn-in for Second Term

(Concord, NH) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn was sworn in for his second four-year term on Monday, October 5, 2009, at his office in Concord. The Governor and Executive Council approved his reappointment on September 23, 2009.

Commissioner Wrenn was sworn in by Senior Assistant Attorney General Michael K. Brown at the beginning of his monthly wardens’ meeting, surrounded by the wardens and other members of the Department of Corrections Executive Staff.

Commissioner Wrenn was appointed by Governor John Lynch and the Executive Council in December 2005. During his tenure he has overseen the addition of increased programming and treatment for female offenders, the creation of a Residential Treatment Unit, a realignment and reorganization of departmental responsibilities, the development of a strategic plan to emphasize offender re-entry, alternative sentencing, and lowering recidivism, and the implementation of the Division of Community Corrections. He is the first Corrections Commissioner to receive consecutive appointments to the position since the four-year term was implemented in 2001.
