Media Outlets Invited to See Berlin Prison Renovations
(Berlin, NH) Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility Warden Larry D. Blaisdell is extending an invitation to members of the media to tour the new minimum-security dormitory unit at the Berlin facility. The South Gymnasium was renovated using NH Department of Corrections resources in response to the expected closure of the Lakes Region Facility in Laconia. Some inmates assigned to Laconia may be reassigned to Berlin on or before July 1, 2009. The tour will occur on Monday, April 13, 2009 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Warden Blaisdell said, “Our maintenance team has done a tremendous job in planning and constructing the unit. Our programming and security staff are working together to implement plans for the delivery of program services, canteen, and offender recreational opportunities.”
Reporters and photographers are allowed to come inside the facility for this purpose. Media representatives who wish to participate in this tour should contact Public Information Officer Jeff Lyons at 603-271-5602 by the close of business on Friday to tell him who will be representing your organization. You should arrive by 9:50 a.m. and be prepared to show valid photo identification to enter the facility. The tour will last approximately one hour.
