Minimum Security Inmate Walks Away
(Concord, N.H.) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that a minimum security inmate walked away from the North End Transitional Housing Unit in Concord on October 29, 2008. Carl Laurie, 58, of Enfield, left the facility this morning to search for employment. He was last heard from at approximately 1:00 p.m. during his regular check-in but he failed to return to the facility at the scheduled time. He was placed on walkaway status at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Inmate Laurie is a white male, 6 feet tall, 155 pounds, with black hair and blue eyes. He wears glasses. He has tattoos on his upper left arm, left forearm, right forearm, and right hand.
He was originally sentenced in Merrimack County Superior Court to life without parole for first degree homicide. But in 1995 he was resentenced to 30 years to life for second degree homicide with ten years of his minimum sentence suspended He entered the New Hampshire State Prison on March 30, 1990 and is eligible for parole on April 20, 2009.
Security procedures aimed at apprehension have been initiated. The New Hampshire State Police and NH DOC are investigating. Anyone with information about this individual should call local law enforcement authorities.
