Inmate Backpacks Project Completed
(Goffstown, NH) On September 4, 2007, at 2:00 p.m., 200 backpacks made by inmates at the New Hampshire State Prison for Women in Goffstown were given to officials from the Bartlett Elementary School in Goffstown. The inmates participated in the summer-long project to outfit as many students as possible with handmade backpacks. Not only have the backpacks been sewn together by the inmates but they have been filled with basic school supplies thanks to donations from The New Hampshire State Employees Association, state employees, and Saint Anselm College of Goffstown.
School Principal
David Bousquet said, "All of the backpacks are so beautiful. The children will love them and I can't wait to see their faces."
