NH Dept. of Corrections Assists Attorney General on Website Investigation
(Concord, NH) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn announced that the Department reviewed a list of registered sex offenders with MySpace.com accounts provided by the Attorney General and identified twenty-two offenders that are currently under active Department supervision.
Their names were provided to their supervising Probation/Parole Officers throughout the State of New Hampshire who will follow through with an independent investigation to determine if any are in violation of the terms of their probation or parole.
The Department of Corrections can file revocation orders on existing sentences but has no legal authority to file new criminal charges against any offenders. Parole violators will be returned to the New Hampshire State Prison for a parole revocation hearing before the Adult Parole Board. Probation violators will be returned to the sentencing court for a revocation hearing.
“The Department will work quickly to assist the Attorney General in this investigation and take appropriate action when necessary,” Commissioner Wrenn said.
