NH Department of Corrections Posts Statement on Sentencing of Former Officer

(Concord, NH) Merrimack County Superior Court sentenced former New Hampshire Department of Corrections Sergeant Douglas Tower to a prison sentence of twenty to forty years for Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault on a female offender followed by a suspended 7-14 year consecutive sentence.

Inmate Tower will not be incarcerated in a New Hampshire Department of Corrections facility. He will remain held at the Merrimack County House of Corrections pending any potential further litigation associated with his criminal charges.

We are entrusted with the custody and safekeeping of all offenders who are incarcerated in our facilities. We take that responsibility seriously. The employees of the Department of Corrections must uphold the laws of the state and we will continue to have a zero tolerance approach to those who violate that trust.
