Lakes Region Facility Inmates Assist in Flood Control

(Laconia, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections Lakes Region Facility (LRF) provided eleven minimum security inmates to fill sand bags for the City of Laconia in its efforts to manage floods due to heavy rains. Hundreds of sand bags were filled and provided to municipal workers to be distributed around the city.

LRF Warden Jane Coplan said it was the initiative of prison staff who contacted the Laconia Fire Department and offered to provide the sand bags to the city. The Department can and is willing to provide a work force to aid local officials during emergency situations such as this.
