NH Correctional Industries to Have Booth at "Made in NH Expo"

(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announces that New Hampshire Correctional Industries (NHCI) will have a booth at the 2007 Made in New Hampshire Try It and Buy It Expo. Now in its twelfth year, this event highlights the state’s diversity with more than 1,200 products, ranging from the latest in high technology to fine craftsmanship. This is the third year NHCI has set up a booth.

NHCI Staff will be available for the entire weekend to inform the public about inmate-made products and to discuss job skills programs offered to offenders. A variety of opportunities exist for inmates to learn marketable trades such as information technology, printing, furniture construction and upholstery, woodworking, agriculture, and sign making. A few small items will be available for sale.

“This is an opportunity to educate and inform the public about Correctional Industries, particularly for those who cannot come inside the prison to see the shops for themselves,” Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn said.
Approximately 400 inmates participate in Correctional Industries at three of the four state prisons.

The expo will be held at the New Hampshire National Guard Armory in Manchester from Friday March 30-Sunday April 1, 2007.
