NH Dept of Corrections Academy Graduates Seventeen New Employees

(Concord, NH) On Friday March 16, 2007, seventeen newly hired employees graduated from the New Hampshire Department of Corrections Academy program. The ten Corrections Officers and seven non-uniformed employees from Academy #84 will report to their new assignments immediately.

The mandatory eight-week pre-service academy provided new staff with the tools to succeed as Corrections employees. The employees received training in offender management, inter-personal communication, defensive tactics, emergency preparedness, CPR, ethics, basic law, health and fitness, and a variety of other skills. They resolved a series of scenarios to simulate the unpredictable challenges that they face daily behind prison walls.

Of the eleven graduating officers, three will be assigned to the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord, three to the Lakes Region Facility in Laconia, three to the New Hampshire State Prison for Women in Goffstown, and one to the Shea Farm Halfway House in Concord. The non-uniformed employees include five teachers, one chef, and one Electrician Supervisor.
