NH Dept of Corrections adds an inmate locater to its website
(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections (NH-DOC) is making more information available to the public with the addition of a basic inmate locator to its state website.
The searchable inmate roster provides information that is considered public within the parameters of the New Hampshire Right to Know Law. Accessible information includes offender names, prison identification numbers, prison facility, year of birth, a brief description of the controlling sentence, sentence start date, parole eligibility date, and maximum release date. It does not show information about inmates serving multiple sentences or consecutive sentences remaining to be served. The search engine lets users search by first or last name. Offenders listed on escape status are highlighted in red.
“We are in an information age and we are hopeful that the public will find this to be a valuable resource,” Corrections Commissioner William L. Wrenn said.
Many State Corrections agencies publish an offender database or locater on their websites. This database was developed by the Web Services Division of the New Hampshire Department of Information Technology.
The NH-DOC website is www.nh.gov/nhdoc and then look for the “Inmate Locator” link. The roster will be updated monthly on or about the first of each month.
