NH DOC EVACUATES HALFWAY HOUSE DUE TO FLOOD CONCERNS
The New Hampshire Department of Corrections (NHDOC) ordered the evacuation of 40 minimum security female offenders housed at Shea Farm Halfway House in Concord as a precautionary measure.
At approximately 8:30 AM, NHDOC received notification from the Concord Fire Department that a voluntary evacuation had been ordered because of a compromised dam at St. Paul’s School. We took the information very serious and began an immediate evacuation. 22 minimum security females were transported to the Lakes Region Facility in Laconia. The others were placed in other NHDOC facilities.
The infrastructure of the Shea Farm Halfway House has not been damaged. The Merrimack County House of Correction in Boscawen has volunteered to provide available space to NHDOC also. Commissioner William L. Wrenn expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the department’s correctional partner in Merrimack County.
This evacuation is temporary until NHDOC receives further information or updates from the Concord Fire Department.
