28 New Staff Graduated from the NH Department of Corrections Academy
(Concord, NH) Twenty-eight newly hired employees graduated from the New Hampshire Department of Corrections Academy program on Friday, November 3, 2006. The nineteen Corrections Officers and nine non-uniformed employees from Academy #83 will report to their new assignments immediately.
The mandatory eight-week pre-service academy provided new staff with the tools to succeed as Corrections employees. The employees received training in offender management, inter-personal communication, defensive tactics, ethics, health and fitness, and a wide variety of other skills. They resolved a series of scenarios to simulate the many unpredictable challenges that they face daily behind prison walls.
Of the nineteen graduating officers, fourteen will be assigned to the New Hampshire State Prison for Men in Concord, eight to the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility in Berlin, three to the Lakes Region Facility in Laconia and two to the New Hampshire State Prison for Women in Goffstown. The non-uniformed employees include two Case Counselor/Case Managers, two teachers, two medical staff, one Clinical Mental Health Counselor, one Employment Counselor, and one warehouse worker.
