NH STATE PRISON TO HONOR VOLUNTEERS
(Concord, NH) Mrs. Les S. Dolecal, Acting Commissioner for the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, announced that the 2004 Volunteer Appreciation Celebration will occur in the gymnasium of the New Hampshire State Prison for Men, Concord, on Thursday, June 3, 2004 at 7:00 PM.
"Nearly 800 New Hampshire citizens volunteer their time to provide programs, services, and counseling to offenders every year. This is our opportunity to show our appreciation," Acting Commissioner Dolecal said.
The department estimates that the state of New Hampshire saves as much as $200,000 annually thanks to the efforts of volunteers.
"Their care and support enhance the skills and attitudes of our incarcerated population. Volunteers help provide offenders more opportunities for self-improvement," Acting Commissioner Dolecal added.
The focus of this year's event will be teamwork, loyalty, commitment, and personal excellence, which are all critical to the success of the offenders. |
