MORE TIME NEEDED ON STATE INMATE SUPERVISION PROPOSALS
(Concord, NH) Mrs. Les Dolecal, Acting Commissioner of the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, announced that bids from the recent round of Requests-for-Proposals (RFP) were being reviewed and evaluated. The evaluation committee requested additional time to question the bidders individually and ask specific questions before making a final recommendation to the Governor and Executive Council.
"The proposals are interesting but we have further questions that need answers before the important decision on housing inmates can be finalized," Acting Commissioner Dolecal said.
"The bids are complex and require significant study so that the committee can make the appropriate decision. We hope to have a decision soon but we owe it to New Hampshire taxpayers to conduct a thorough examination of the bids," Acting Commissioner Dolecal said.
The RFP to seek housing for up to 1,000 male state prisoners was issued March 19, 2004 and closed on April 16, 2004. A funding transfer request must be approved by the Legislative Fiscal Committee prior to going before the Governor and Executive Council. No final date was announced.
