PROBATION/PAROLE OFFICER SAVES TODDLER
(Nashua, NH) On Tuesday, July 9, 2002, Nashua District Office Probation/Parole Officer Mark Pszenny assisted a four-year old boy who was choking on a piece of candy. The toddler was the son of an offender who was in the Nashua District Office for a routine meeting with his probation/parole officer. PPO Pszenny saw that the boy was choking so he rushed over to help dislodge the item. The boy responded positively and was unhurt.
Larry Blaisdell, Director of the NH Dept. of Corrections, Division of Field Services, congratulated PPO Pszenny and said, "I'm proud of his tremendous effort. He went above and beyond the call of duty to help this boy."
Following the incident, PPO Pszenny provided the boy's parents with a brief instruction on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and how to prevent choking. All NH Department of Corrections staff are certified annually for CPR. |
