NH DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS CELEBRATES EMPLOYEE APPRECIATION WEEK

(Concord, NH) New Hampshire Department of Corrections Commissioner Phil Stanley declared May 6-12, 2002 to be New Hampshire Corrections Employee Appreciation Week. "This is a time to recognize the hard work and achievements of the department's 1,200 staff," Commissioner Stanley explained.

Throughout the week, department employees will participate in a variety of activities, which will culminate with a recognition ceremony on Friday May 10, at 1:00 PM at the NH Police Standards and Training Center in Concord. At that time the department will announce its Employees and Teams of the Year for all of its facilities and offices.

"The staff supervise and assist about 10,000 offenders in prison, halfway houses, and probation and parole throughout the state on a daily basis. Their efforts at changing the lives of offenders are outstanding and should be recognized," Commissioner Stanley added.

The DOC oversees the NH State Prison for Men in Concord, NH State Prison for Women in Goffstown, the Lakes Region Facility in Laconia, and the Northern NH Correctional Facility in Berlin. DOC manages the Secure Psychiatric Unit in Concord, The North End and Shea Farm Halfway Houses in Concord and the Calumet Halfway House in Manchester. There are also 11 district probation and parole offices.
