NEW HAMPSHIRE DOC NAMES NEW MAJORS
(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections announced that three Correctional Officers have been promoted to Major. Lieutenant Daniel C. Shaw, Unit Manager Dennis Cox, and Corrections Captain Ross L. Cunningham have been promoted to Major at three New Hampshire State Prison facilities.
Shaw, 39, has worked for the Department since 1985. He will be assigned to the men's prison. Since January 1998, Shaw has been the highest-ranking officer of the Concord facility's Special Housing Unit, which houses maximum-security inmates.
Cox, 38, has been a Unit Manager at the Northern NH Correctional Facility (NCF) in Berlin since 1999. Prior to that, he was a Corrections Officer and Corporal at the Concord prison and a Sergeant Mentor at the Lakes Region Facility (LRF) in Laconia. He has worked for DOC since 1989. He will be assigned to LRF.
Cunningham, 32, has worked for the Department since 1990. He was a Corrections Corporal at the men's prison and was promoted to Sergeant at LRF in Laconia. He has been Captain at NCF since 1999. He will be assigned to NCF.
To better address security issues at the state prisons, the DOC instituted the rank of Major.
