CORRECTIONS CREATIONS CELEBRATES GRAND OPENING
(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections is celebrating the Grand Opening of its new prison retail store on Saturday, August 25, 2001, from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. At 10:00 AM, the ribbon will be cut formally opening the new Corrections Creations on 312 North State Street, in Concord.
"The retail store features fine products handcrafted by the inmates of the New Hampshire Correctional Industries and hobbycraft shops," said Corrections Commissioner Phil Stanley.
"It provides offenders with an opportunity to showcase their talents," Stanley added.
The original prison retail store operated out of the same building since it opened in April 1983. However, greater demand from the public and a larger inventory has made it necessary to expand the facility. The new retail store is housed in the former prison farm building, which provides greater efficiency and flexibility for the operation.
Items available for the public to purchase include wood items, office furniture, reupholstery and chair caning services, ceramics, handmade apparel, quilts, leather goods, artwork, and many other novelties.
Commissioner Stanley and other NH-DOC officials will participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony. Door prizes will be offered to the public during the day.
