NH-DOC PROBATION AND PAROLE OFFICERS TO ASSIST LAW ENFORCEMENT EFFORTS DURING MOTORCYCLE WEEKEND
(Concord, NH) For the third consecutive year, highly trained Probation and Parole Officers from the New Hampshire Department of Corrections Division of Field Services will volunteer to enhance law enforcement efforts during Laconia Motorcycle Weekend, June 15-17, 2001.
NH-DOC Field Services Director Larry Blaisdell announced that six officers will assist the dozens of state and local police who provide security during Motorcycle Weekend. They are Probation and Parole Officers Sterling Wheeler, Christine McKenna, Heather Ross, Robert Peterson, Lynda Warhall, and James Sullivan.
Blaisdell said, "Our officers can arrest any probationer or parolee under the jurisdiction of the Department of Corrections however they can also assist any law enforcement agency as needed."
Blaisdell points out "These officers are volunteering their time for the weekend and will not receive any overtime pay."
Blaisdell added that they will be armed with outstanding arrest warrants and in past years have arrested numerous offenders on probation and parole violations.
The Division of Field Services supervises more than 4,500 probationers and parolees in the state of New Hampshire. There are 76 NH-DOC Probation and Parole Officers. |
