NH-DOC TO USE AN ELECTRIC TRUCK AT LAKES REGION FACILITY
(Concord, NH) The New Hampshire Department of Corrections has added an electric truck to its fleet of perimeter vehicles. The small GMC white pick-up truck will be used to patrol the perimeter of the yard surrounding the Lakes Region Facility in Laconia.
The vehicle will be used for the balance of its four-year lease with the State of New Hampshire.
John Sanfilippo, Warden of the Lakes Region Facility, said, "We use vehicles to monitor the prison grounds 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We see this as a cost and energy efficient way to maintain our high level of public safety."
The vehicle can run approximately 100 miles on a single electric charge. Other state agencies are using electric vehicles for a variety of purposes.
