Warde (1828 - 1874) was born at Henniker (NH). He was educated at Henniker schools, and at Professor Ballard's school for young men (Hopkinton, NH). At age sixteen (1844) Warde began as a clerk at the Concord (NH) hardware store of Porter & Rolfe; in 1852 he became a partner in the store, and at his death Warde headed the store.
Warde was prominent in New Hampshire Republican politics. He served on the staff of Governor Smyth (1865 - 1866), then was elected to the State House of Representatives (1867, 1868) and to the State Senate (1872, 1873; President of the Senate, 1873). Warde was a member of the State Republican Executive Committee, and he helped decide election strategies for the state as whole. His early death cut short a promising political career.
