George I. Haselton (1878 - 1922)

Haselton (1878 - 1922) was born and died at Manchester (NH). Educated in the city's common school, Haselton began work in the Dye House at Amoskeag Manufacturing at twenty years of age (1898).

Haselton worked eight years at Amoskeag. Then he married (Fanny Trenholm) in 1905. A year later Haselton left the mills and went to George Washington University, at Washington, D.C., to study law. He did not allow his ties to Manchester to lapse while he and his wife were away, however. Haselton was a declared New Hampshire Republican; he had already been a member of the city's Common Council; and he remained an ex-officio member of the Manchester School Board despite his absence from the city.

Haselton returned to Manchester with his law degree and began a law practice. He was elected a State Representative (served 1911 - 1913), then became a State Senator. He was elected President of the Senate in 1915. Haselton was elected Solicitor for Hillsborough County in 1921; a year later he died, aged forty-five.
