George H. Adams (1851 - 1911)

Adams (1851 - 1911) was born at Compton (NH). He graduated from Dartmouth College (1873), was principal of a high school at Middleboro (MA) for one year, then returned to Plymouth (NH) to study law. He was admitted to the New Hampshire Bar in 1876. In the same year Adams was a Plymouth delegate to the New Hampshire Constitutional Convention.
Adams was elected to the State House of Representatives (1883); in 1890 he was appointed Deputy Collector of Internal Revenue for the Plymouth area. He subsequently held a number of state positions, culminating as State Insurance Commissioner (served 1905 - 1911). He died at Plymouth.
