Nadine M. Peterson joins the DHR staff as our new Preservation Planner
Nadine Peterson recently joined the DHR staff as Preservation Planner. Nadine will coordinate DHR’s efforts to develop, train, and support local preservation planning through Historic District Commissions, Heritage Commissions, Regional Planning Commissions and Certified Local Governments. She will also participate in Section 106 and RSA 227:C Review and Compliance with DHR staff and other state and federal agencies. In addition, Nadine will coordinate the State Highway Historical Markers Program.
Nadine has sixteen years of experience in the preservation field, most recently working with the New Hampshire Department of Transportation assisting the Cultural Resources Manager in coordinating cultural resource investigations. In this role, she focused on the identification and evaluation of architectural/historic resources including buildings, bridges, landscapes, and historic districts.
Prior to working at NHDOT, Nadine was the Director of Historic Preservation with a private cultural resources consulting firm in Pennsylvania. Here, she oversaw Section 106 activities and assisted with the preparation of Comprehensive Plans, Preservation Plans, Design Manuals, and other public dissemination materials. Working with municipalities, developers, and key community stakeholders to identify preservation tools that would protect significant resources was also an important component of the job.
Nadine looks forward to combining her experiences working with a private consultant and a state agency to bring about successful collaboration on preservation planning projects throughout New Hampshire.
