Commissions & Purchases of Artwork

Public Art Opportunities in Communities
Community Arts Project grants support collaborative creative processes between professional artists and community members where emphasis is as much on the process of collective art making as it is on the finished product. Very often projects result in the design and creation of public art that is reflective of the community's history or cultural heritage.

Public Art for State Buildings (Percent for Art)
The Percent for Art Program was enacted by the New Hampshire Legislature in 1979 to ensure that all forms of visual arts and crafts have an integral and important role in state construction projects. Artists selected for Percent for Art projects must be professional artists at the time of application. For current Requests for Proposals (RFPs), check the “What’s New” box on our home page.

State Art Collections
Since 1965, the acquisition of new artworks that represent the variety and richness of New Hampshire arts has become one of the functions of the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts. State Art Collections are important repositories of the creativity of New Hampshire.
