Judy Rigmont, Creative Communities Coordinator
Judy Rigmont has been with the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts since 1985. During her tenure, she has overseen the agency's Touring Program, Rural Arts Initiative, Prison Arts Program, Dance on Tour Initiatives, Peer Mentorship Program, Artist Roster and, since its inception in the early 90's, the Community Arts Program, now called Creative Communities. In addition to her work with municipal leaders, non-arts/civic organizations and arts organizations, Rigmont also develops and presents professional development workshops for professional artists to help increase their entrepreneurial skills. As part of a regional arts and healing initiative, in partnership with the Massachusetts Cultural Council and Vermont Arts Exchange, she coordinates artist and staff training and artist-in-residence programs in health care environments.
Rigmont is staff liaison to the New England Foundation for the Arts' (NEFA) New England States Touring Program that serves regional arts presenting organizations and performing artists. She has served as an advisor to the Association of Performing Arts Presenters of Northern New England (APNNE) and has served on numerous review panels throughout the region. She helped coordinate a multi-year documentation project on the long-term impact of community arts projects.
A native of Massachusetts, and graduate of Fisher Junior College and Franklin Pierce College, Judy's areas of interest are in the performing arts. She studied and did volunteer work in theatre, sang with a seacoast community chorus, and plays the piano recreationally. She maintains that she was a dancer at some point in this life (or possibly a past one).
Her previous experience was in the nonprofit sector and at Houghton Mifflin Publishing Company in Boston.
