NEW HAMPSHIRE BOARD OF MENTAL HEALTH PRACTICE

The purpose of the Board “is to regulate mental health practice by practitioners in the state
to assure that the services provided are effective and of a quality consistent with the standard
of care within each profession, and to safeguard the public against harm which may be caused
by, untrained, unskilled or unlicensed practitioners.” RSA 330-A:1

III. LEGISLATION UPDATE

A. SB 21 - changes the quorum for meetings of the board and clarifies the procedure for reinstatement of non-renewed licenses issued by the Board. This bill is supported by the Board.

Senate - passed with amendment

House - adopted by the House ED&A committee. SB 21 was recommended as ought to pass with amendment (changing the quorum to 4 instead of 3) on a vote of 13-0

B. SB 33 - relative to continuing education requirements for mental health practitioners on suicide prevention - passed the Senate with amendment.

Senate - passed with amendment

House - adopted by House ED&A committee. SB 33 was recommended as ought to pass on a vote of 11-2
