How Can I Properly Manage Chronic Pain Patients Who Are on Narcotic Analgesics?
The Board has a policy statement on the management of chronic pain patients, which includes the elements of an established physician-patient relationship, appropriate follow-up appointments, use of consultants, use of a pain contract, and urine testing. Fishman, M.D., published by Waterford Life Sciences, Washington, D.C., under the auspices of the Federation of State Medical Boards.
