The Board of Medicine ("Board") is looking for one member: a doctor of osteopath (D.O.) to represent osteopathic physicians and surgeons. The function of the Board is to:

(a) Evaluate persons who apply for the authority to practice medicine in New Hampshire and license those who are found qualified under the standards of RSA 329.

(b) Investigate and evaluate existing licensees through the medical review subcommittee and commence disciplinary action concerning licensees in accordance with the standards of RSA 329.

(c) Investigate and prepare reports on any matter within the scope of RSA 329.

(d) Assess, compromise, and collect civil penalties against persons engaged in the unauthorized practice of medicine or other violations of RSA 329.

(e) Establish fees for licenses and for renewal of licenses to practice medicine, including late fees, and fees for transcribing and transferring
records and other services.

This new position was recently created by the Legislature via HB408, and appointments are made by the Governor and the Executive Council.

The Board meets once monthly, on the first Wednesday beginning at 9:00 A.M., and consists of 11 members; 5 members selected from among physicians and surgeons, one member selected to represent osteopathic physicians and surgeons, one member selected to represent physician assistants regulated by the board, the commissioner or the medical director of the department of health and human services, or in the case of a vacancy in the office of medical director, the commissioner shall appoint a designee, and 3 public members.

The Medical Review Subcommittee ("MRSC") to the Board of Medicine ("Board"), pursuant to RSA 329:17, V-a, is looking for a physician member to serve on the MRSC. The MRSC is in need of a physician with the specialty of either Vascular Surgeon or General Surgeon. The MRSC reviews all complaints, suits, claims, etc. received by the Board and makes recommendations to the Board regarding final actions.

The MRSC meets once monthly, on the third Thursday beginning at 1:00 P.M., and consists of 11 members; one member of the Board and 10 other persons, 3 of whom are public members, one of whom is a physician assistant, and 6 of whom shall be physicians.
