Seventy-five years ago, Alderman Joseph T. Theriault made the state's first purchase of legal liquor at the Railroad Square Nashua Liquor Store. His purchase, a bottle of imported french wine, was recorded with receipt number one and sold for $1.40. The doors of the store were opened promptly at 10:00 a.m. and from then on until 6:00 p.m. the closing hour, there were few moments that could be called idle.
