(a) No person shall serve as a GAL who is involved as a party in a pending, contested matter affecting areas of fact or law similar to issues that may be raised in matters to which the person may be appointed as GAL.
(b) The GAL shall not serve if the GAL has any professional or financial relationship with either of the parties or their counsel or any material witness in the matter.
(c) The GAL, who has prior acquaintance with a party, shall not accept appointment as GAL unless, after disclosure of such fact is made by the GAL, the parties in the matter before the court agree to such appointment in writing.
