System-wide Guardian Ad Litem Application, Certification and Practice

CHAPTER I. CERTIFICATION

Rule 1.1. Authority and Applicability

    
    The following rule setting forth requirements for application, training, and certification as a Guardian ad Litem (hereafter referred to as "GAL") is established pursuant to the supreme court rulemaking authority under the N.H. Constitution, part II, article 73-a and the authority conferred under RSA 490:26-e (Supp. 1993) and applies to guardians ad litem appointed in the following cases: RSA chapter 169-B, Delinquent Children; RSA chapter 169-C, Child Protection Act; RSA chapter 169-D, Children in Need of Services; RSA chapter 170-B, Adoption; RSA chapter 170-C, Termination of Parental Rights; RSA chapter 173-B, Protection of Persons from Domestic Violence; RSA chapter 458, Annulment, Divorce, and Separation; RSA chapter 463, Guardians of Minors; RSA chapter 464-A, Guardians and Conservators; and RSA chapter 604-A, Adequate Representation for Indigent Defendants in Criminal Cases. This rule supersedes all previous requirements. Any GAL previously registered or certified with the superior, district and municipal, or probate court prior to the effective date of these requirements must comply with any requirements for certification established by the respective administrative judge within one year of the effective date of this rule.
