Stack of Law BooksThe Probate Court has jurisdiction over a variety of cases including trusts, wills and estates, adoptions, name changes, guardianship of incapacitated persons, guardianship of minors, termination of parental rights, partition of property and involuntary admissions.

There are five full-time judges covering Belknap, Hillsborough, Merrimack, Rockingham and Strafford counties. Five part-time judges serve in Carroll, Cheshire, Coos, Grafton and Sullivan counties.

Probate Court rules were updated in 2003 and have helped improve the efficiency of the probate court in a wide range of areas involving lives and property.
