Information about the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination

    Successful completion of the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination (MPRE) is a prerequisite for admission to the New Hampshire Bar. The New Hampshire Board of Bar Examiners has established a scaled score of 79 as the passing level of performance for the MPRE.

    Applicants for admission without examination must successfully complete the MPRE before filing their motions for admission. Bar examination applicants may take the MPRE either before or after the New Hampshire Bar Examination, but successful completion of the MPRE is a prerequisite to bar admission.

    The MPRE is developed by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE). It is administered three times a year at many locations throughout the United States, usually at law schools. If you are presently enrolled in law school, consult your law school placement office for information about MPRE test, dates and locations and about the examination itself.         MPRE scores must be reported by the NCBE directly to New Hampshire. When you arrange to take the MPRE, designate New Hampshire as one of the jurisdictions to which your score should be certified. If you have already taken the MPRE but you did not request that your MPRE score be certified to New Hampshire, you may request that the NCBE send an additional score report to New Hampshire.
