MERRIMACK COUNTY SUPERIOR

LOCATION OF THE COURT

The Merrimack County Superior Court is located at 163 North Main Street in Concord. Please enter the building through the west side entrance adjacent to the parking lot. DIRECTIONS

TELEPHONE

Please call the jury line at 224-3462 any time after 4 p.m. on the Friday before each reporting date to confirm your jury service. You will hear a recorded message that will give you further instructions on your reporting date and time.

ATTENDANCE

If there is an emergency situation that prevents you from appearing on a day you are scheduled to report, call the clerk's office immediately.

All requests for exemptions and postponements must be in writing and received by the court, along with your juror questionnaire by the date specified in your letter from the court. No requests for exemptions or postponements can be handled by telephone.

NOTE: IF YOU FAIL TO APPEAR FOR JURY DUTY YOU BE HELD IN CONTEMPT OF COURT.

FIRST DAY FACTS

When you arrive at the courthouse, identify yourself to the uniformed security officer as a juror. PLEASE HAVE AN APPROPRIATE PHOTO ID READY TO PRESENT TO THE SECURITY OFFICER AS POSITIVE IDENTIFICATION. You will then pass through a metal detector, so be prepared to empty your pockets of all metal objects. You are not allowed to bring into the building any object which can be used as a weapon.   Anything you bring with you will be searched. Also, there are no facilities for children in the courthouse.

Juries for the week will be selected following instructions from the judge. Jurors who are selected will be given dates to report to the courthouse. Those jurors who are not selected will be asked to return to the court the following week on a specific day.

Those selected may begin a trial immediately or may be told to report later during the week. Trials will normally start at 10:00 AM and conclude by 4:30 PM.   Although juries are scheduled to be selected over a period of several weeks you should not expect to serve on a jury during each of those weeks. In addition, some of the scheduled selection dates may be cancelled if all cases scheduled for that day have been resolved. When few cases remain on the docket, only a portion of the jury panel will be asked to report for selection. Even though you have been selected to serve as a juror for a period of a month, you will find that the actual time required for your service will be substantially less.

If you need further information, please contact the clerk's office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.:
