District Court Small Claims Mediation
Small claims mediation, without charge, is available in most District Court
locations. If
both parties agree to mediation, but it is not available, the clerk will make provisions to transfer the
case. Participation in mediation is voluntary.
If you want to have a judge decide your case, you have that option.
In the district court, you can try mediation and if it does not
resolve the case, you will have a hearing before a judge that day.
The program is funded by a
$5.00 filing fee increase on all small claims cases.
