Welcome to the Governor's Commission on the Humane Treatment of Animals' website. This website is the product of the of the last two and the current Commission to address issues concerning the humane treatment of animals in the state of New Hampshire.

The website contains information and links to public and private programs, companies, and individuals that address the humane treatment of animals in both in New Hampshire and nationally. It also contains news events, legislation, and important contact information pertaining to animal cruelty investigation and prosecution.

To report Animal Cruelty: If you are aware of an animal cruelty or neglect situation where the animal's life is in immediate danger, contact the police department of the town where the animal is located. For nonlife threatening situations and in situations where you might have questions, please see FAQs.

Announcements

Executive Order 2016-1 Re-establishing the the Governor's Commission on the Humane Treatment of Animals was signed January 22, 2016. The membership appointments are currently being issued by the Governor.

Guidelines for Responsible Pet Ownership pdf file
The Governor's Commission on The Humane Treatment of Animals has recognized the need to educate the public regarding the prevention of animal cruelty. Toward that end, the Commission has endorsed the Guidelines for Responsible Pet Ownership as put forth by the American Veterinary Medical Association as a model for New Hampshire pet owners.
