BASIC PURPOSE: To assist disabled persons in following
policies and procedures in order to receive rehabilitation services as outlined in their
vocational plan.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reviews vocational
plans, schedules appointments and arranges transportation for disabled persons.
·
Reads and codes
rehabilitation reports for completeness and accuracy before data entry.
·
Assists counseling
staff in coordinating services between agencies, employers, and other related
appointments.
·
Collects statistical
data for monthly reports and analysis.
·
Contacts insurance
carriers and rehabilitation providers to obtain information necessary to
complete reports and secures available pertinent information including
educational, vocational and medical histories when requested.
·
Assists in
maintaining continuity of rehabilitation services by encouragement and
follow-up as determined by the individual's vocational plan.
·
Administers and
scores standardized tests and work samples and observes and records client
behavior during testing.

DISTINGUISHING FACTORS:
Skill: Requires skill in recommending routine
changes in standardized operating procedures OR in retrieving, compiling and
reporting data according to established procedures OR in operating complex
machines.
Knowledge: Requires knowledge of business
practices and procedures or technical training in a craft or trade, including
working from detailed instructions, to apply knowledge in a variety of
practical situations.
Impact: Requires responsibility for
contributing to immediate, ongoing agency objectives by facilitating the direct
provision of services to the public or other state agencies. Errors at this level result in
inaccurate reports or invalid test results and require significant investment
of time and resources to detect.
Supervision: Requires no supervision of employees or
functions.
Working Conditions: Requires performing regular job
functions under good conditions in a safe working environment.
Physical Demands: Requires light work, including
continuous walking or operating simple equipment for extended periods of time
as well as occasional strenuous activities such as reaching or bending.
Communication: Requires explaining facts, interpreting
situations, or advising individuals of alternative or appropriate courses of
action. This level also requires
interviewing or eliciting information from state employees or members of the
general public.
Complexity: Requires a combination of job functions
to establish facts, to draw daily operational conclusions, or to solve
practical problems. This level
also requires providing a variety of alternative solutions where only limited
standardization exists.
Independent Action: Requires making a limited number of
choices in selecting among alternative courses of action under supervisory
guidance and in performing job functions according to a variety of prescribed
policies or procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Completion of two years of college with
courses in personnel management, psychology, sociology or related
subjects. Each additional year of
approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work
experience.
Experience: Two years' experience in business,
industry or a human service agency which required public contact. Each additional year of approved work
experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Eligibility for valid New Hampshire
driver's license and/or access to transportation for use in performing job
accountabilities.
RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS: Working knowledge of the physical and
emotional problems of the disabled as they affect occupational
qualifications. Working knowledge
of the policies and practices of vocational rehabilitation counseling. Ability to communicate ideas and work
effectively with employers, physicians and other professionals. Ability to follow instructions. Ability to monitor individual work
performances. Ability to exercise
judgment and work on assignments independently. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to
assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the agency appointing
authority.
