“Tommy Makem was a national and international treasure, but he was also a New Hampshire treasure. With a strong voice and even stronger spirit, Tommy inspired millions. Here in New Hampshire, Tommy was a great citizen and neighbor, raising a wonderful family and setting an example of community involvement and dedication.

“Susan and I will never forget his performance at the Open House during this year’s Inauguration celebration. It was known that he was not well, yet he played with typical passion and wit, evoking tears of joy and sadness from those assembled.

“Susan and I thank his family for sharing his gift with all of us and for keeping his musical tradition alive. We will keep them in our thoughts and prayers.”
