CONCORD - Gov. John Lynch and the Executive Council have recognized Robert C. Stewart of Bradford as April's New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month. Gov. Lynch and the Executive Council presented Stewart with a commendation last week at a ceremony in the State House.
Gov. Lynch partnered with VolunteerNH! to create the New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month awards. The honorees are selected on a rotating basis by Executive Council district by VolunteerNH!.
"One of our state's most cherished attributes is our long, proud tradition of citizen involvement. As Governor, I believe it is important to give those efforts more recognition, as a way to encourage more people to get involved and to help preserve that tradition of civic engagement that makes New Hampshire so special," Gov. Lynch said.
Stewart was chosen for the award in recognition of his dedication to the community of Bradford. He currently serves as Chairman of the Bradford Budget Committee, Treasurer of the Bradford Fish and Game Club and as the Director of the Lake Todd District Association. Stewart is active in numerous other groups including the Masons, the Shriners, the boy Scouts of America and local youth sports organizations.
He is a past recipient of the Bradford Lifetime Achievement Award for his community activism through the years.
Nominations for the monthly awards are currently being accepted and will continue to be accepted throughout the year. Nominees will be considered for the New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month Award and for a category award at the annual Spirit of New Hampshire Awards.
