State Officials Make Recommendations for Flood Victims

CONCORD, N.H. - Governor John H. Lynch and state emergency officials are urging New Hampshire residents affected by the current flood to exercise extreme caution and cooperate with local authorities in responding to the disaster.

They made the following recommendations:

* Call the state's Flood Relief Hotline at 1-800-852-3792 for any questions about flood-related issues and to report unsafe conditions.

* Exercise caution when driving or walking near floodwater or where floodwater has recently been. Be alert for road shoulders that may have washed away.

* Obey all traffic control devices, including cones, barricades, yellow tape and uniformed personnel. All have been placed there for citizen safety.

* Take pictures of any damage to your home or other private property for reporting purposes.

Governor Lynch declared a statewide State of Emergency yesterday to put all state resources to work responding to the flood. The governor urged anyone who suffered property damage to keep accurate records of all repair costs and to extensively document all damage.
