Part of helping our state, our communities, and our families recover from the floods is to minimize the impact on our economy, Gov. Lynch said.

"We are entering the Memorial Day Weekend, the kick-off of our summer tourism season - an important time for our businesses, their workers, and our families," Gov. Lynch said. "That is why we want to send a clear message today that New Hampshire is open for business this weekend. And we invite - and encourage - visitors to keep their plans to travel to our great state - or to make plans now for a weekend getaway.

"Our roadways are open. You can get to your destination. Almost all of our state parks are open. You can enjoy a great weekend in New Hampshire's beautiful natural outdoors.

Almost all of our hotels and other tourist destinations are open. And the weather forecast is expected to be great. With temperatures in the high 70s or low 80s Saturday, Sunday and Monday," Gov. Lynch said.

"We want travelers to know that they can and should come and enjoy Memorial Day Weekend in New Hampshire," Gov. Lynch said.

In addition, they offered help to New Hampshire citizens having problems with flood insurance.

"I have heard from families that are having problems with their flood insurance company. And although flood insurance is a federal program, we want to do everything we can to help our families through this difficult time. New Hampshire's Insurance Department and Consumer Protection Bureau are available to help families with questions about flood insurance," Gov. Lynch said.

Roger Sevigny, New Hampshire's Insurance Commissioner, said his department has established a toll-free line, 1-800-852-3416, that will connect residents to Insurance Department representatives knowledgeable about flood insurance.

"We are doing everything we can to make it easier for consumers to access information and to refer them to the appropriate agencies for assistance. We have written materials available that are posted on our Web Site and that we will mail to the public free of charge. We can also put people in touch with government and private entities who can help,"Commissioner Sevigny said. "Although flood insurance is a federally administered program, we can act as a referral source and can provide the public with information and advice on how to mitigate damage and take other actions to make recovery easier."
