  Governor, Executive Council Honor Brookline Youth As February’s New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month
 
   
  CONCORD – Gov. John Lynch and the Executive Council today recognized Benjamin Sacks of Brookline as February’s “New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month“.

Gov. Lynch partnered with VolunteerNH! to create the New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month awards. The honorees are selected on a rotating basis by Executive Council district by VolunteerNH!.

Sacks, a student at Hollis/Brookline High School, was chosen for the award for his work with the Brookline History Committee. Sacks has worked with the committee since its creation in 2003 to compile a history of Brookline from 1914 to the present day.

Nominations for the monthly awards are currently being accepted and will continue to be accepted throughout the year. Nominees will be considered for the New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month Award and for a category award at the annual Spirit of New Hampshire Awards. FEBRUARY VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

WHEREAS, Benjamin James Sacks has worked with the Brookline History Committee since its inception in May 2003 to record and compile the history of the Town of Brookline from 1914 to present day; and

WHEREAS, Benjamin James Sacks has demonstrated a passion for the history of his community and the State of New Hampshire through extensive research, conducting interviews and writing articles; and

WHEREAS, Benjamin James Sacks contributes an in-depth knowledge of history, geography and social sciences to the work of the committee; and

WHEREAS, Benjamin James Sacks serves as a role model for young people in his community for his active commitment to Hollis Brookline High School, the Town of Brookline and to the mission of the Brookline History Committee;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOHN H. LYNCH, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire, and the Executive Council, in cooperation with Volunteer NH!, do hereby name Benjamin Sacks as the February Volunteer of the Month for his many contributions to his community and the citizens of our state.

Given this 22nd day of February in the year of Our Lord two thousand and six, and the independence of the United States of America, two hundred and thirty.
