CONCORD - Governor John Lynch today recognized Kristann Moody of Barrington, winner of the Ninth Annual Women's Recognition Award.
The Governor, along with the New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women and the Executive Council presented Ms. Moody with a commendation at today's Governor and Council Meeting.
The Women's Recognition Award is given each year to a woman chosen by the Commission for her contributions to the state and for her personal and professional accomplishments.
Kristann Moody, Vice President of Orion Design Technologies, was chosen as this year's recipient for her accomplishments and contributions as a leader for women's rights and as a role model for young girls in science and math. Ms. Moody volunteers much of her free time to support women's activities in the state and raise awareness for continued efforts to safe guard women's rights. Moody is involved with the GEM-set program, a program designed to connect young girls in middle school and high school with professional women in the Science, Engineering and Technology field. She also volunteer's her time by visiting high school and university classes to talk about the engineering field and her experiences as a woman in a non-traditional occupation.
Nominations for the Women's Recognition Award are open to the public. The New Hampshire Commission on the Status of Women gives the award annually in conjunction with Women's Equality Day, August 26. The Commission can be contacted at 603-271-2660.
