Governor-Elect Hassan Announces Next Three Innovation Outreach Transition Teams

Teams Will Seek Input and Ideas on Education & the Workforce, Energy & Environment and Public Safety

CONCORD – Governor-Elect Maggie Hassan today announced members of the next three of her transition's Innovation Outreach Teams, who will focus on the issue areas of Education & the Workforce, Energy & Environment, and Public Safety.

Hassan's Education & Workforce Transition Outreach Team includes respected leaders from both the business and education communities who will reach out across New Hampshire for input and ideas as Hassan works to implement her innovation plan to create jobs and build a stronger workforce.

The team includes Mary Heath, Former Deputy Commissioner of Education; Paul LeBlanc, President of Southern New Hampshire University; Fred Kocher, President of the New Hampshire High Technology Council; New Hampshire AFL-CIO President Mark MacKenzie; Stephen Reno, Executive Director of Leadership New Hampshire and Chancellor Emeritus of the University System of New Hampshire; Jeff Rose, Director of Public Affairs, BAE Systems, Inc.; Kim Casey, former State Representative and former Exeter Regional Cooperative School Board member; and Allen Damren, Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Claremont, Unity and Cornish.

"There are innovative businesses throughout New Hampshire that are ready to grow and create jobs, but they need a strong workforce with the right set of skills and training," said Governor-Elect Hassan. "The members of my Education & Workforce transition team, who are leaders in their fields with a wealth of knowledge and experience, will solicit input from across the state for implementing my innovation plan to build a skilled workforce that can fill the jobs of today and tomorrow and attract more cutting-edge businesses to New Hampshire."

Governor-Elect Hassan also announced team members for her Energy & Environment Innovation Outreach Team, who will support her efforts to preserve our natural resources and keep New Hampshire moving toward a 21st century energy policy. Serving on the Energy & Environment team are Al Morales, Managing Director of Energy Management, Inc. in Portsmouth; Joe Casey, representative of the New Hampshire Building and Construction Trades Council; Meredith Hatfield; Procedures Administrator, NH Department of Administrative Services; Clay Mitchell, Partner at Revolution Energy, LLC in Portsmouth and President of the Board of Directors of the New Hampshire Sustainable Energy Association; and State Senator Mandy Merrill of Durham.

"Protecting New Hampshire's natural beauty and developing sources of clean, sustainable energy right here in our state will help create jobs and keep our economy moving forward," said Governor-Elect Hassan. "With experience in the fields of business, energy, and environmental protection, my Energy & Environment transition team will provide valuable insight and help reach out for innovative ideas to strengthen New Hampshire's green economy."

And Hassan announced members of her Public Safety transition team who will provide ideas and advice on how to best ensure the safety of New Hampshire's communities. Members include David Lang, President of the Professional Fire Fighters of NH; Seth Cooper, President of the New Hampshire Troopers Association; David Young, President of the New Hampshire Police Association; Chief David Cahill, Immediate Past President, NH Association of Chiefs of Police; and Chief Chris LeClaire, President of the New Hampshire Association of Fire Chiefs.

"There is no more important job for a governor than ensuring the safety and security of New Hampshire's communities," Governor-Elect Hassan said. "I thank these dedicated public servants for participating in the transition process and for working hard every day to keep our residents safe."

Additionally, Hassan announced that Joanne Dowdell, former congressional candidate and business executive, has been added as a member of Hassan's Business Outreach Transition Team, which was released yesterday.

As Governor, Maggie Hassan will bring people together to keep New Hampshire moving forward by focusing on innovation, fiscal responsibility and common-sense solutions to our challenges. Hassan will work with members of both parties to develop a fiscally responsible balanced budget that protects New Hampshire's priorities without an income or sales tax. She will work to implement her "Innovate NH" jobs plan, which focuses on building the best workforce in the country, providing tax credits to businesses, and giving businesses technical assistance to help them create jobs. And Hassan will reach out to legislators and citizens across the state to listen to their ideas on moving New Hampshire forward.
