Kathleen M. Sherman, BSN, RN
Anthem, Wellness Facilitator for State of New Hampshire

Kathleen M. Sherman has been a registered nurse for over 20 years with vast experience in clinical education and training, nursing and health promotion. 

She served 20 years in the US Navy as a Navy Nurse Corps Officer assignments including Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. Her present position is with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield as the Wellness Facilitator assigned to the State of New Hampshire. Prior to that position, she served as Advanced Health Coach Nurse, Diabetic Educator, and Health Stream Administrator for Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester, New Hampshire where she was accountable for patient education around self care management skills, maintaining a chronic care registry, and guiding individuals around healthcare choices. She also coordinated Talk'N Diabetes self care management support groups and other health care community events working collaboratively with outside agencies. In addition, Kathy serves as a member of the Manchester Department of Health Chronic Disease Committee; American Heart Association Go Red Committee, Tobacco Prevention Coalition with Breathe NH; and the American Diabetes Association Step Out and Walk Campaign. Kathy was recently appointed to the Governor's Council on Physical Activity and Health. She participated in the 2007 "Healthy Eating Active Living" conference, the 2007 National Wellness Institute, and 2008 Health Promotion Conference; and has been involved with wellness activities with the Foundation for Healthy Communities and NH Citizens Health Initiative. She presented a poster on "Health Coaching" to the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing, the Case Management Society of America, and the National Wellness Institute in 2007.

Kathy earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Adelphi University of Garden City, New York, Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from C.W. Post College in Greenvale, New York and an Associate Art Degree in Social Sciences from Suffolk County Community College, New York. She has been working towards completing her Master's Degree. In addition, she holds membership on the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing, Case Management Society of America, Navy Nurse Corps Association, Naval Reserve Association, Military Officers Association of America, Girl Scouts of America, and volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate.
