The Board of Registration of Funeral Directors and Embalmers issues licenses to qualified Embalmers and Funeral Directors based on the licensing requirements set forth in RSA 325. The Board regulates the minimum standards for professional conduct and continued competency and takes disciplinary action against licensees who fail to meet these standards. The Board inspects funeral homes and chapels based on the inspection requirements set forth within RSA 325 and issues certificates of inspection to all funeral homes and chapels meeting these requirements.

Effective July 1, 2006, the Board was designated to be responsible for the administration and enforcement of RSA 325-A relative to the cremation of human remains. Upon inspection, the Board issues a certificate of inspection to crematory authorities that satisfy the requirements under this chapter.
